Dakota County collects recycling at Lebanon Hills and Lake Byllesby campgrounds and the Whitetail Woods camper cabins.

Reducing waste by recycling bottles, cans, paper, cartons and plastic is an easy way to minimize our impact on our air, water and land as well as preserving our natural resources.

Sort your waste while camping in Dakota County

Use the provided paper bag to collect paper, cardboard, cartons, metal cans, glass bottles, and jars and plastic bottles, containers, and jugs. This bag goes into the recycling dumpster at the waste station or you can put your items in loose without a bag.

Place these items in the trash: Styrofoam, candy wrappers, chip bags, paper plates, cups and napkins, utensils, and plastic bags, cups and wrap. You are welcome to use the black bag provided or your own bag.

Don’t forget these items in your camping pack

  • Reusable dishes (plates, bowels, cups), cutlery, and containers
  • Reusable bags or containers for food
  • Refillable water bottle
  • Reusable dish towel instead of paper towels
  • Reusable travel-size bottles for your soap and shampoo
