Summer fishing and winter ice fishing are popular sports in Minnesota. Varieties of fish from sunfish to northern pike are located in select lakes in Dakota County Parks.

Trout fishing

Holland Lake is not a designated trout lake. You do not need a trout stamp to fish there, but anyone trying to catch trout or keeping a trout you catch, must have a trout stamp.

Trout Brook is a designated trout stream, and a trout stamp is required for anglers. Find out more about Trout Brook.

Anglers fishing the Cannon River in Dakota County do not need a trout stamp unless they are trying to catch trout or keeping a trout they catch.

The Minnesota DNR periodically stocks fish in Holland Lake, McDonough Lake and Thompson Lake.
