150th Street W. (County Road 42) Resurfacing from 147th Street to Diamond Path
County Project 42-172
Dakota County and the City of Apple Valley are resurfacing 3.5 miles of pavement on County Road 42. The project starts at 147th Street and ends at Diamond Path (County Road 33). The road has severe cracking, failing curb, drainage concerns and non-compliant pedestrian facilities.
The project will remove the top layer of pavement and replace it with a new layer. This type of resurfacing project allows for other improvements. Pedestrian improvements to current standards, signal replacements, and transit improvements are included with this project.
The improvements will include a new roadway surface, striping and pavement markings. Intersections will have new curb ramps, audible push buttons for crossing the road and pedestrian countdown timers. The completed project will improve the ride, mobility and compliance to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Dakota County and the City of Apple Valley are also planning to replace the aging traffic control signal systems at Garrett Avenue and Pilot Knob Road (County Road 31).
Road closures and detours
Beginning July 13, the intersection of County Road 42 and Pennock Avenue will close to install storm sewer to alleviate the flooding in the area. This closure will last until July 24. Please follow the posted detour. View detour map.
