Homestead
Homestead is a program to reduce property taxes for owners who also occupy their homes as their primary place of residence.

Applying and canceling a homestead
Apply online
- Once application is submitted, you will receive an email from DocuSign.
- If more information is necessary, Assessing Services will contact you.
- Applications are due Dec. 31 and will affect the next year's taxes.

- By fax: 651-438-4469
You must notify the county assessor within 30 days if you:
- Move or sell property
- Have a relative moving into property
- Convert to rental property

Other information
- Some relatives of the owner may qualify if they live in the owner's house
- Members of family farm corporations and farm partnerships (Minnesota Statute 273.124)
