280th Street W. (County Road 86) Roundabouts

​​​​​​​​County Projects 86-44 a​nd 86-43

Dakota County will construct two single lane roundabouts. The roundabout will be at:

  • 280th Street W. (County Road 86) and Chippendale Avenue (Highway 3) within Castle Rock and Waterford townships
  • 280th Street W. (County Road 86) and Randolph Boulevard/Emery Avenue (Highway 56) within Randolph and Hampton townships

The purpose of the project is to improve safety and traffic operations.  Construction includes constructing single lane roundabouts, restriping, and drainage improvements.

Road clos​ures and detours

The intersection of 280th Street W. (County Road 86) and Chippendale Avenue (Highway 3) is now closed for the construction of the roundabout. Please follow the posted detour.

Construction ​progress​

Aug. 14–22

Highway 3 roundabout​

  • Continue grading and excavating for the new roadway
  • Continue installing storm sewer
  • Continue placing gravel for the new roadway
  • Relocating temporary lines to move out of the way for the roadway grading

Community engagement

The county ​hosted a public open house on Sept, 16, 2024 at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 28595 Randolph Blvd., Randolph.​
