Concord Boulevard (County Road 56) Intersection and Crossing Improvements
County Project 56-14
Dakota County is improving pedestrian and bicycle safety along County Road 56 (Concord Street/Concord Boulevard). The project is planned from Highway 55 to Interstate 494 and along the Mississippi River Greenway in Inver Grove Heights. This project will make intersection and crossing improvements along and across Concord Boulevard.
This project is being constructed in coordination with the 80th Street Trail in Inver Grove Heights and other improvements along the Mississippi River Greenway. See the 80th Street Trail project page for more information.
Road closures and detours
Traffic control devices and warnings will be placed in advance of construction at the intersections along Concord Boulevard. Expect delays and lane closures. Please exercise caution for your own safety and construction workers' safety
Construction progress
Aug. 21-29
- Continuing removals of curb and gutter, pavement and concrete walk at the intersection of Concord Boulevard and 80th Street E. and Delaney Drive
- Patching pavement will begin at Inver Grove Trail, Cahill Avenue, Coffman Path, Old Concord Boulevard, Corcoran Path, 70th Street E., Dickman Trail (across from 68th Street E.), the east side of Poplar Street and Chestnut Street

Community engagement
The county held an open house on Monday, Nov. 7, 2022 at the Veterans Memorial Community Center. Residents shared their experiences with crossing Concord Boulevard and using the Mississippi River Regional Trail.
The county held an open house on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023 at the Veterans Memorial Community Center. Residents shared feedback and viewed crossing improvement concepts.
The county held an open house on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Veterans Memorial Community Center. Residents could learn more about the project and get their questions answered regarding proposed designs and when to expect construction.
