County Road 5 at Southcross Drive Intersection
County Project 5-58
Dakota County and the City of Burnsville are replacing the traffic signal and making intersection improvements at County Road 5 and Southcross Drive.
The final work will improve intersection operations and includes:
- Replacement of existing traffic signal systems
- Pedestrian and ADA improvements
- Drainage improvements
Road closures and detours
Work will take place on the four corners and in the median. Traffic control devices and warnings will be placed in advance of construction. Expect delays and lane closures. Please exercise caution for your own safety and construction workers' safety.
The left turn lanes on County Road 5 will be closed. The inside through lane will be the left-turn lane. The outside lane will be for through traffic and right turns.
Signals will be on flash (all way stop) during work hours but operate as normal otherwise.
Construction progress
July 10-18
- Relocating private utilities
- Removing existing signal system in preparation for the new system
- Removing concrete
- Installing new drainage system
- Staking in preparation for curb and gutter installation
- Beginning installation of new pedestrian ramps
