McAndrews Road (County Road 38) Lane Reconfiguration

Dakota County and the City of Apple Valley are reconfiguring lane design for about 1 mile along McAndrews Road (County Road 38). The project is from Johnny Cake Ridge Road to Pilot Knob Road (County Road 31).

The project reconfigures eastbound travel from two to one lane.  There will be a new, dedicated right-turn lane at Diamond Path and left-turn lanes at Everest Trail and Eland Court. The purpose of the project is to improve safety by adding dedicated turn lanes and improving driver sightlines at Diamond Path.

By reducing McAndrews Road to one through lane and adding a dedicated right-turn lane, drivers turning from Diamond Path onto westbound McAndrews Road will have improved sightlines. They will only need to judge a single lane of eastbound approaching traffic, rather than two lanes.

Community engagement

Dakota County will be hosting a public engagement meeting to share more information about the project, talk to the community and answer questions.
