McAndrews Road (County Road 38) Lane Reconfiguration
Dakota County and the City of Apple Valley are reconfiguring lane design for about 1 mile along McAndrews Road (County Road 38). The project is from Johnny Cake Ridge Road to Pilot Knob Road (County Road 31).
The project reconfigures eastbound travel from two to one lane. There will be a new, dedicated right-turn lane at Diamond Path and left-turn lanes at Everest Trail and Eland Court. The purpose of the project is to improve safety by adding dedicated turn lanes and improving driver sightlines at Diamond Path.
Traffic impacts
The proposed changes were reviewed and will have minimal to no impact on traffic flow. Diamond Path drivers should benefit from improved sightlines and fewer lanes to cross the intersection.
Funding
The proposed restriping is a low-cost, high-benefit project. The project is expected to be completed quickly and funded within existing budget.
Community engagement
Dakota County will be hosting a public engagement meeting to share more information about the project, talk to the community and answer questions.

Falcon Ridge Middle School, Apple Valley
Project staff will be available to discuss the project’s purpose and goals, collect feedback and ideas and share preliminary information.
