Solid Waste Management Plan
Every six years, Dakota County is required to revise its solid waste management plan. This plan guides how waste is managed over the next 20 years. It must follow requirements in the Minnesota Waste Management Act.
On Sept. 23, 2025, the Dakota County Board approved the plan.
The plan is now in effect. It includes strategies to:
- Reduce waste going to landfills
- Make progress toward the state's goal to recycle 75 percent of the waste by 2030
- Carry out required strategies in the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency's Metropolitan Solid Waste Management Policy Plan
