Non-Certified Birth Certificates
A non-certified copy is a plain paper copy of a birth record. Non-certified copies are for informational use only and cannot be used for legal purposes. If you need a certificate for legal use, please see information from the Minnesota Department of Health for certified birth certificates.

Paper work can be submitted via drop boxes at each location.
Walk-ins available
Service and license centers are open for walk-ins. However, making an appointment is encouraged.

First non-certified birth record: $13
Each additional non-certified copy of the same record issued at the same time: $6
Payment options
Cash, check, money orders, and credit or debit cards (Discover, Visa or MasterCard) are accepted. A 2.49-percent convenience fee is charged for credit and debit cards on this county service.

Purchasing in person
Anyone can get non-certified copy of a public birth record. You must complete the Non-Certified Birth Certificate Application. Some records are confidential and can be issued only to certain people.

Long form birth certificates
Minnesota does not issue long form birth certificates. The Minnesota Department of Health recommends purchasing a certified birth certificate and non-certified birth certificate in place of a long form birth certificate.
