Metro Children's Water Festival

Dakota County supports the Metro Area Children’s Water Festival, an annual event for fourth-grade students in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The festival educates, motivates, and challenges students to understand, conserve, and protect water resources through hands-on learning. Participants rotate through interactive stations led by environmental professionals, enjoy activities like the Water Arcade, and attend a presentation from the Science Museum of Minnesota.

The festival is typically held on the last Wednesday in September at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. Teachers must register for a chance to attend, as space is limited and classes are selected through a lottery process. A free virtual festival is also available year-round.

Visit the Children’s Water Festival website for registration details and information about volunteering or sponsoring.
