Purchasing Recorded Documents
You can purchase copies of recorded documents for a fee.
Fees
Documents are $1 per page or $10 for a certified copy. To inquire about how many pages a document contains, you can call 651-438-4597. There are different fees for plats and register land surveys. See the miscellaneous fee page for more information.
Purchasing in person
You can purchse documents without certification at the following locations:
- Administration Center in Hastings
- Northern Service Center in West St. Paul
- Western Service Center in Apple Valley
Purchasing by mail
You can purchase documents with a written request. To find out the cost of the documents, call 651-438-4597. Then, send a written request with the cash or check to:

Please allow a 24-hour turnaround period for the mailing of all requests.
Avoid property document scams
Some companies have sent mailings to homeowners, attempting to get homeowners pay more than $90 for deeds. Dakota County can provide a copy of your deed for free. For more information on these scams, go to the Minnesota Office of the Attorney General website.
