Man sentenced to life in prison for death of roommate

Jacob John Audie, 37, was sentenced today to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the death of Michael Maurice Schille, 72, of South St. Paul, Dakota County Attorney Kathy Keena announced.
The sentence was handed down by Judge Kathryn Iverson in Dakota County District Court. Audie was found guilty Aug. 19 on one count of premeditated first-degree murder and one count of intentional second-degree murder following a stipulated facts trial.
The incident occurred April 11, 2025, in their apartment in South St. Paul. Audie shot Schille on the side of his face, using the victim’s gun. Further details regarding the circumstances of the case can be found in a previously issued media release.
Audie remains in custody at the Dakota County Jail awaiting transfer to the Department of Corrections.
