County crisis services
The Dakota County Crisis Response Unit (CRU) provides 24-hour phone and face-to-face crisis intervention and consultation. Call 952-891-7171.
The primary goal of the Crisis Response Unit is to assist in stabilizing the immediate crisis, ensure safety for the client, the family and the community, and assist with referrals to appropriate county or other agency staff as necessary.

- Minnesota Crisis Text Line: Text "Home" to 741741 to communicate with a trained crisis counselor
To report maltreatment of a vulnerable adult, call the Minnesota Adult Abuse Reporting Center at 1-844-880-1574 or report online. If a person is in immediate danger, call 911.
When you report abuse, include the following:
- The name and address of the vulnerable adult
- The name and address of the person causing harm
- The date and time of the alleged harm
- Details of what happened
If you give your name as the reporter, your name will be kept confidential.
To report suspected child abuse or neglect, call 952-891-7459. If ever a child is in immediate danger, call 911 or your local police or sheriff's department.
Calls during the evening, weekend, or otherwise outside county office hours to report suspected child abuse or neglect should be made to the Dakota County Crisis Response Unit at 952-891-7171.
The Dakota County Housing Team helps people avoid housing crisis and homelessness.
You can work with the Dakota County Housing Resource Line to help find and understand available resources.

- Meet with a social worker from the Housing Resource Line on the third floor of the Northern Service Center (walk-ins are welcome Monday through Friday between 8 a.m.–4 p.m.)
