Celebrate the Season at the Library
Join us for fall and Halloween inspired events. Create potions, hear spooky (and not so spooky) stories, give a new afterlife to some old dolls, show off your costume or swap seasonal props with others.
Potions Party
Explore reactions as we put together various ingredients that fizz, foam and overflow. Registration required. For youth ages 6–12.

Natalie Fowler
Join us to hear author and historian Natalie Fowler discuss her work researching the stories behind spirits, creatures and ghosts. She will talk about her books “Monsters of the Midwest: True Tales of Bigfoot, Werewolves, and Other Legendary Creatures;” “Ghosts of the Wild West;” and “Witches of New England.” Fowler is also the researcher and historian for the paranormal group “Ghost Stories Ink,” a ghost-hunting group dedicated to finding creative inspiration in creepy and haunted locations. Funded by MELSA.

Zombie Barbies
Drop in to give new afterlife to some old dolls. Get creatively creepy transforming Barbies and other dolls into spooky zombies and monsters. Bring your own dolls or use one of ours. For youth ages 8–18.

Costume & Prop Swap
Bring your gently used costumes and props to swap with community members. Leave what you can and take what you want. Eligible items must be clean and in working condition. Presented in partnership with Dakota Valley Recycling. All ages.

Join us for a not-too-spooky Halloween Storytime. Enjoy stories and participate in activities to develop early literacy skills. For youth ages 2 and older with their caregivers. Siblings welcome.

Join us for a Halloween Storytime. Then follow our parade through the library to practice your trick-or-treating skills and see other great costumes. For children ages 2–6. Siblings welcome.

Halloween Dance Party
Try out your costume and move to great music played by our own DJ Jenni. Have fun, try out your costume, enjoy everyone else in costume and practice your trick-or-treat skills. Feel free to use our instruments and scarves.

Cryptid Cross-Stitch
Cross-stitch a cryptid creature. Whether you've cross-stitched before or are brand new to it, we'll have a pattern for you. Take home a Yeti, Mothman, Sasquatch or Fresno Nightcrawler to hang on your wall or give as a gift. Registration required. For teens ages 12–18.
