Primary Election (Aug. 11)

The statewide primary election is Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Voters can cast their ballot in person on election day. Polling place hours are 7 a.m.–8 p.m. Eligible voters in line by 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

Early voting

Early voting is available until 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10. Voters can cast their ballot and feed it directly into a ballot counter at the Dakota County Administration Center, Northern Service Center and Western Service Center. Early voting is also available at most city halls during regular business hours.

Return absentee ballots

If you requested an absentee ballot but have not yet returned it, you may drop off your own ballot no later than 5 p.m. on primary election day. It cannot be delivered to your in-person polling place.

If you requested an absentee ballot but choose to vote in person, simply discard your absentee ballot. You will be provided a ballot at your polling place.

Register to vote

Go to MNvotes.org to check your registration status. Eligible voters who need to register may do so at the polling place on Aug. 11.
