Burnsville man sentenced to life in prison for murdering mother of his children

Jason Philip Filas, 49, was sentenced today to life in prison for the death of Danielle Grace Warren, 32, Dakota County Attorney Kathy Keena announced.

The sentence was handed down by Judge David Lutz in Dakota County District Court. Filas pleaded guilty on Sept. 18 to one count of first-degree murder while committing domestic abuse with a past pattern of domestic abuse.

The incident occurred on May 7, 2025, in their Burnsville home where Filas fatally stabbed Warren. Further details regarding the circumstances of the case can be found in a previously issued media release on May 9, 2025.

“No sentence can fully heal the loss and pain endured by Danielle’s family, friends and loved ones. I hope this outcome will provide some measure of peace,” said County Attorney Keena.

Filas remains in custody at the Dakota County Jail awaiting transfer to the Department of Corrections.
