2027 Service Changes
As a result of planned 2027 budget reductions, Dakota County is making some changes that will impact library hours and services.
Service changes
Beginning Saturday, Jan. 2, 2027, staffed hours at Dakota County Library locations will be:
Galaxie, Wentworth, Wescott, (Burnhaven once reopened)
Monday–Wednesday, 9 a.m.–8 p.m.
Thursday–Saturday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
Sunday 1–5 p.m.
Burnhaven Temporary Location
Monday–Thursday, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
Closed on Sunday
Farmington, Heritage, Inver Glen, Kaposia, Pleasant Hill, Robert Trail
Monday–Wednesday, noon–8 p.m.
Thursday–Saturday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
Closed on Sunday
Self-Service Hours at all locations will continue to be available from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., 7 days a week, including holidays. Library card holders 18 years and older can register for a Self-Service Hours card.
The library will continue to be fine-free on overdue items. Updates will be made to the following fees beginning Monday, Jan. 4, 2027:
- Black and white print and photocopies: $0.20 (increase from $0.15)
- Color print and photocopies: $0.75 (increase from $0.50)
- $5 Self-Service Hours replacement card fee (new)
- 3% credit card charge on print, copies and fax
- $0.40 credit card charge on lost or damaged items

- Maximum of 10 items on hold or checked out at a time (previously 12).

- The library will stop ordering audiobooks and music on CDs
- Purchase of DVDs will be reduced
Individuals can still check-out up to 99 items at a time and checkout periods will remain the same.
- Curbside service will no longer be available.
- The last day to schedule a curbside pick-up is Thursday, Dec. 24, 2026.
- The last day to pick up curbside is Thursday, Dec. 31, 2026.
Customers may still place holds for inside pick up during staffed hours or register for a Self-Service Hours card to pick up holds outside of staffed hours. For additional services to access library materials outside of the library, visit our At Home Library Services page.
